Happening every first Sunday of the month, our fifth Mana’o Radio Sunset Sundays fundraiser features a selection of talented Maui musicians and ‘ono food for sale with a portion of food sales supporting Mana’o Radio! Admission is only $5 and the views are priceless!

Our next Sunset Sundays event is happening on Sunday, November 03, 2024 from 4:00-7:00pm, featuring performances by:

 

1. Benny Uyetake
Maui’s musical treasure, Uncle Benny Uyetake, is a beloved educator and music icon with a zest for life will share his guitar and ukulele dexterity across a spectrum of genres including classical, jazz, Hawaiian, blues and rock. Music has always been a passion of the life of a guitarist, composer, and entertainer, Benny C. Uyetake. Still, there has always been the nucleus of his passion which includes his family, friends, education, and occupation. These components of Benny’s life carved the pathway of his journey through music. Music teacher by day, performer at night–Benny Uyetake is the Maui’s ‘ukulele superman. His passion for entertaining started at a young age, and sharing his knowledge of music and performing is second nature. Benny plays music that touches his soul: contemporary, old style Hawaiian, rhythm and blues, soul, Jazz and rock.






2. Geri Valdriz And Kevin Brown
Geri Valdriz
Geri Valdriz is a lap steel guitarist living at Waiehu, Maui. His passion is Kika Kila, the Hawaiian style of playing the steel guitar. He is a student and teacher of steel guitar and is the DJ host for “Hawaiian Steel”, a program on Mana`o Radio dedicated to Kika Kila.
Geri is the steel guitarist for the Kika Kila Band, Maui Jam, and Ola Hou. He plays at steel guitar concerts and festivals across the Hawaiian Islands, on the U.S. Continent, and Japan. He is also a studio recording artist.
Kevin Brown
Kevin Brown is a Hawaiian slack key guitarists from Waiehu, Maui. He is a founding member of the Waiehu Sons, a slack key group formed in the late 1970’s during the Hawaiian music revival. Kevin’s ki ho`alu is in the style of Gabby Pahinui and Atta Isaacs.
Kevin plays at slack key guitar festivals and concerts across the Hawaiian Islands. He is also an instructor at Keola Beamer’s Music Camp and George Kahumoku’s slack key workshop.






3. Jarret Roback
Born in Oahu, Jarret moved to Maui in 1969. His father was a police man and musician so naturally he followed in his father’s footsteps into civil service and music. He’s been on the Maui Fire Department and entertaining for over 20 years and plans to retire soon to play music full time. His time spent in the Maui music scene has him partnering with some of the finest Maui musicians…you never know who he may have beside him. Victor Fields.
