Mana’o Radio welcomes Tye Austin, Award-winning Classical Guitar Virtuoso.
“Acclaimed by NBC News for his ability to, “…make the guitar sing like it was invented only to be in his hands,” Tye Austin is an international award-winning classical guitarist and composer who will be making his Hawaiian debut at ProArts Playhouse in Maui on May 9th at 7:30pm. He will be playing Spanish flamenco, Latin jazz, Caribbean reggae, and Hawaiian slack-key guitar music.
He has performed for Kings, Queens, Presidents, and Prime Ministers at the United Nations Headquarters, NYC’s Carnegie Hall, London’s Royal Albert Hall, and Shanghai’s Lidoway. Tye received his Master of Music degree in classical guitar performance under the tutelage of Eliot Fisk at the New England Conservatory of Music. He also studied with Grammy-winners, Sharon Isbin at The Juilliard School, Jason Vieaux at the Curtis Institute, and Scott Tennant at USC.
