We love the diversity and straight up ALOHA at Mana’o! More music and less talk. The PSA department rocks too. DJ’s are the BEST on the planet. Thank you for all you do

This radio station is so innovative, original, creative, and enthusiastic that it hearkens back to my DC days with WHFS and WTJU in Charlottesville. I listen to KMNO daily in Austin, and needless to say, crank it in the condo and in the convertible each summer on Maui. Outstanding, informative, and entertaining DJ’s. A must listen.

Thanks for the great sound! Cheers from chilly Switzerland!

I am an American guy originally from New Jersey, and these days I live near Vicenza in Italy. I’m a few years older than you, but not by much. I first got turned on to this station during my third visit to Hawaii last June. Typically, since I am 12 hours ahead of you, I listen during the mornings when I am at my work studio (I am a photographer by trade), or, working in my garden under the blazing Italian sun. I finally caught your show, which was the recorded version. It was the birthday show … By the way, happy birthday. This featured music from 1976. Listen man …. it was the best three hours of music I think I’ve ever heard strung together, and, I was a DJ myself for while. Just outstanding. I’m going to be listening to your show every time its on going forward. May be someday I’ll make it back to Maui, but in the meantime, long live your fantastic station and cheers from Italy.

I want to thank Dr. B for his Valentine show yesterday (Holoholo Na Mele). I am in central WA, where the covid stay-home-don’t-mingle time has been made even less bearable by a Polar Vortex Surprise that has dropped over a foot of snow where I live. Bitter cold temperatures and impassable roads. Espresso and good chocolate sure help, but it’s a challenge.
My sister, a long-time resident of Wailuku, torments me with photos of green things, her flowers, and descriptions of “cold nights” of 60 degrees.
I caught part of the program yesterday and was immediately warmed and cheered by it. Now I am replaying it over and over on demand. The 60’s music took me back to watching American Bandstand after school, and Johnny Mathis singing “The Twelfth of Never” reminded me of seeing him live in Seattle with a rotating mirror ball above him. To my teenage self, it was like a dream!
So a huge, sincere THANKS to Manao Radio and Dr. B. Better than chocolate this weekend!

Dare to say your host Derek seems to be a most passionate music lover. I love love the variety and the random tracks selected. Today is the first time I’ve tuned in to the show “Mindful Mix.” And I’m spreading the word! So keep ’em spinning y’all!

| Hi, I have been playing Mana’o radio every day since discovering you two weeks ago. I am an artist and paint full time from my studio in Wellington, New Zealand. I lived in Wailuku in 1997 and 1998 and this is where I met my wife, a kiwi who was backpacking her way up through. I’m frequently nostalgic for my time in Hawaii when I was in my early 20s and still feel a deep connection, so it delightful to discover your station which is not only Hawaiian, it is eclectic and original with terrific programming. I’m really pleased to have found you. I was a full time painter in Hawaii too…though lived a bit more frugally. ( I’m from Ireland). It’s funny how a moment in time, – my time in Maui, often spent painting up in Iao Valley, or out in Hana, can be still so significant . Happy birthday and keep up the terrific original music mix. Best wishes |
-Michael M.
