The Reviews Are In: "A Must Listen."
After stumbling on 91.7 (The Golden Record) while on Maui in 2020, I have been a huge fan from afar ever since. We’re back on island for three weeks and my radio has been pegged to Mana’o radio! I loved Tim’s Bit’s And Pieces” show, and I’m looking forward to Sarahtonin later today! It was a good reminder to donate.

Mana’o radio allows me to continue to feel connected to the aloha spirit wherever I am in the world. Mana’o radio is responsible for many kitchen dance parties in my home, and special memories with my spouse, who I met twice on one day in Paia, at Mana foods and then Paia fish market. We were deeply saddened by the loss of DJ Duncan Mack this year, whose show we listened to and called in to religiously.

I could listen to Michael Elam’s choice of music all day every day! Love it!

I want to thank Dr. B for his Valentine show yesterday (Holoholo Na Mele). I am in central WA, where the covid stay-home-don’t-mingle time has been made even less bearable by a Polar Vortex Surprise that has dropped over a foot of snow where I live. Bitter cold temperatures and impassable roads. Espresso and good chocolate sure help, but it’s a challenge.
My sister, a long-time resident of Wailuku, torments me with photos of green things, her flowers, and descriptions of “cold nights” of 60 degrees.
I caught part of the program yesterday and was immediately warmed and cheered by it. Now I am replaying it over and over on demand. The 60’s music took me back to watching American Bandstand after school, and Johnny Mathis singing “The Twelfth of Never” reminded me of seeing him live in Seattle with a rotating mirror ball above him. To my teenage self, it was like a dream!
So a huge, sincere THANKS to Manao Radio and Dr. B. Better than chocolate this weekend!

My friend and I found 91.7 while we were in Maui last May. After returning to AZ, I have continued to listen to the Hula Honeys with great pleasure. I support my local radio station KXCI here in Tucson. Independent radio is the best. Big love to you all.

I’m a fan. As a former participant in the industry I know how much it costs to keep the transmitters on.

I was steaming the New Orleans Jazz Fest at home today and then I found out our own Mana’o radio was carrying their feed! So hip, you guys!!!! I love it and thanks.

Hi, I have been playing Mana’o radio every day since discovering you two weeks ago. I am an artist and paint full time from my studio in Wellington, New Zealand. I lived in Wailuku in 1997 and 1998 and this is where I met my wife, a kiwi who was backpacking her way up through. I’m frequently nostalgic for my time in Hawaii when I was in my early 20s and still feel a deep connection, so it delightful to discover your station which is not only Hawaiian, it is eclectic and original with terrific programming. I’m really pleased to have found you. I was a full time painter in Hawaii too…though lived a bit more frugally. ( I’m from Ireland). It’s funny how a moment in time, – my time in Maui, often spent painting up in Iao Valley, or out in Hana, can be still so significant . Happy birthday and keep up the terrific original music mix. Best wishes |
