SUMMARY:Mana’o Radio’s Sunset Sundays Fundraiser at Ocean Distillery
DESCRIPTION:Where: Ocean Farm & Distillery\, Maui\, HI\nWhen: Sunday\, August 3rd from 4:00-7:00 PM\nPrice: $10.00 at the door! Reservations at OpenTable.com\n  \nOur next Sunset Sundays event is happening on Sunday\, August 03\, 2025 from 4:00-7:00pm\, featuring performances by: \n  \n1. Swing Star \nOn first listen\, Swing Star’s swirling sounds owes much to the gypsy guitar of Django Reinhardt\, but as the ear adapts\, it’s clear that this quartet sounds like no other. It creates an exciting feeling as a dance band\, soothing and elegant background music\, or in a concert performance setting. \nSwing Star’s originality stems from being collective stars. Like an astute big band\, Swing Star’s musicians are equally luminescent. At any moment\, a guitar\, clarinet or bass will take center stage. One moment\, the twin tickling of guitars traipsed through the streets of pre-WWII Paris\, the next\, a bustle of Latin licks spawn sounds hotter than a molten Brazilian night. \nGuitarist\, Steve Elliott became smitten and inspired by the music and guitar mastery of Django. Shortly after moving from Southern California to Maui\, he started searching for likeminded musicians. \nIt wasn’t long after that when Michael Guzalak (clarinet\, tenor sax\, vocal\, percussion) joined in\, after working in similar style band\, One Leg UP for 15 years in Asheville\, NC. \nThe band is driven on the low end by bassist David Graber\, or Ganis\, perhaps the finest bass players on Maui and a joy to hear. \nOur newest member\, Bita Fonseca\, is an extraordinary Brazilian guitarist the bring an authentic sound to the different styles of Latin and world music covered by the band. \nAccessible to even the most discerning ear\, Swing Star cozies comfortably with large crowds or the most miniscule of private parties. Their blissful sounds spill onto the dance floor\, creating an infectious aura that can arouse the dancer in everyone! \n\n\n \n\n2. Dr. Nat\nDr. Nat is a Maui based musician since 1988 playing various styles including Island Groove\, Latin\, Soul\, Jazz and Gypsy music. He founded the Tropical Latin Dance Band Rio Ritmo in 1997 and has played as a solo artist during this time in various capacities. He was a guest artist dj at Manao Radio for over a decade and has much love for the good folks at the station. Nat has reprised the Role of Rocky in the Rocky Horror Show on Maui over the last three decades….maybe perhaps again this year? \n\n\n \n\n3. Silky Sister\nSilky Sister\, singer-songwriter born and raised on Maui. W ith the help of the beauty that exists in every facet of life\, she strings together songs of silk about love\, being your best self and finding your happiness. She gains inspiration from the beautiful landscapes of her island home\, the ebbs and flows of her unique life\, and the stars above that help encase it all in. Together\, they create a deep\, soothing\, and silky sound sure to pull on your heart strings.\n\n\n \n\nJoin us the first Sunday of each month at spectacular Ocean Distillery located at 4051 Oma’opio Road in Kula for fantastic Maui sunsets\, music\, friends\, food\, and mouth-watering cocktails. And help support Maui’s favorite radio station\, Mana’o Radio! \n\nMālama Pono from all of us at Mana’o Radio.

SUMMARY:Mana’o Radio’s Sunset Sundays Fundraiser at Ocean Distillery
DESCRIPTION:Where: Ocean Farm & Distillery\, Maui\, HI\nWhen: Sunday\, July 6th from 4:00-7:00 PM\nPrice: $10.00 at the door! Reservations at OpenTable.com\n  \nOur next Sunset Sundays event is happening on Sunday\, July 06\, 2025 from 4:00-7:00pm\, featuring performances by: \n  \n1. Kanoa \nThere has and never will be any kind of restrictions to the prowess\, smoothness\, and timelessness for Kanoa and for his music. In the lands of Hawaiian and Reggae\, Kanoa’s fresh vibe and take on the R&B Soul genre with RETROFIT is a cut away from the typical expectation of a Hawaii musician. \n This funky EP is another love child from Maui’s own son. Highly sought after and dedicating his life entirely to music and production\, Kanoa continues to be boundless. After all\, this is his core and thus he is so named. Anyone who is familiar with Kanoa knows that he comes from the piko of Hawaiian music\, ‘aha himeni\, reggae\, rock\, metal\, and yes even country. \nWhilst his weekly performances cover the island of Maui from Kahului\, Honokohau\, and of course Kihei\, Kanoa has worked with and produced the likes of The Grouch\, Allen Stone\, MGK\, Al B\, Jo Koy\, Murs\, Pat Simmons Doobie Brothers\, Ozomatli\, Pepper\, DRI\, Brother Ali\, and the late – very great legendary Willie K. \nTravel is always fun and exciting for the humble Hawaiian. However\, making music\, producing\, performing\, on his moku one hānau of MauinuiaKama is kuleana. He is the first person I wanna see when we visit Maui. The typical “wya” is always met with several options. \nIn a time when no one has time for anything\, Kanoa will always make room for chill conversation as is this EP. Each story is finely lined with raw vocals that’s perfect for a the club or a drive around the islands. I love that even in 2023 we are gifted with the truth of a story from beginning to end in each song. Retrofit is “All About It”. It’s got that “maybe kinda love” vibe and who could deny the classic sound of the talk box – You got Me Wrong! \nRETROFIT is IT. \n \n\n2. Mondokane\nMy name is “Mondokane”. I am a singer\, songwriter\, recording artist\, and entertainer based out of Maui. Iʻve been an entertainer in the music industry for over 30 years. I have three albums out currently and multiple songs on the radio stations throughout Hawaii. \n\n\n \n\n3. Wilson Kanaka’ole\nWilson Kanaka’ole\, a gifted guitarist and vocalist from Lahaina has deep roots in Hawaiian music. As an alumnus of the University of Hawaii College’s Institute of Hawaiian Music\, he has collaborated with notable island musicians\, including the Barefoot Natives\n \n \n\nJoin us the first Sunday of each month at spectacular Ocean Distillery located at 4051 Oma’opio Road in Kula for fantastic Maui sunsets\, music\, friends\, food\, and mouth-watering cocktails. And help support Maui’s favorite radio station\, Mana’o Radio! \n\nMālama Pono from all of us at Mana’o Radio.

SUMMARY:NICOLE OLNEY BAND AT PROARTS ON FRIDAY\, MAY 30 AT 7:30 PM
DESCRIPTION:Mana’o Radio and ProArts Playhouse invite you to join us for a debut performance at ProArts by the Nicole Olney Band featuring Jeremy Savo of Cherreh Strawberry and Kevin Garland of Desert Hollow and Three 2 Five on Friday\, May 30 at 7:30pm.  \nNicole Olney is a poet\, a yogi\, and an aspiring five-string banjo witch. Her songs are articulate as well as dreamlike\, weaving seamlessly between vivid grounding imagery and illuminated questioning that hits straight to the core. Her voice carries the kind of vintage vibrato power you’d find on a dusty old country record\, together with a tender softness that leaves you with a feeling of ease. \nThis will be a special evening\, as Nicole will have her band as well as dear friend and songwriter\, Desirae Garcia\, opening up the show! \nTicket Information \nPremium: \n$30 (large cushy front-row chairs with small tables) \nPreferred: \n$25 (front row of any seating tier) \nRegular: \n$20 \nPartially-Obstructed View: \n$15 \n2 hours with intermission \nMore details and tickets are available at: \nwww.proartsmaui.org \nA portion of the proceeds benefits Mana’o Radio! \n\n\n\n \n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n
